Terms of service

These terms govern your use of FreeTranscribe. By using the service, you agree to them.

The service

FreeTranscribe is a self-service tool that converts customer-uploaded audio and video into machine-generated text. Each job receives an unlisted URL for status, online review, export, link reset, and deletion. Processing time depends on file length and queue demand and is not guaranteed.

This is not a human-checked, certified, regulated, medical, legal, or court-reporting service. Transcripts may contain errors. You are responsible for checking consequential wording against the source recording.

Your recordings

You retain ownership of recordings and transcripts you submit. You give us the limited permission needed to store, process, deliver, and delete them while providing the service. You confirm that you own each recording or have all permission needed to submit and process it.

Anyone with a transcript URL may follow the job and read or download its completed transcript. You are responsible for sharing it appropriately. The creating browser or owning account may replace the URL or delete the transcript. Old URLs stop working after replacement or deletion.

Anonymous transcripts are deleted within 7 days after completion. Signing in before deletion moves them into your account, where they remain until you delete them.

Free and Premium plans

The Free plan includes 3 transcripts per day, up to 1 hour per file, with standard processing. Premium costs US$8 per month, supports files up to 10 hours, and receives priority processing.

Unlimited Premium transcription means there is no monthly audio-hour balance for ordinary use by one person. Per-file limits, finite processing capacity, security controls, and the acceptable use policy still apply. Accounts may not be shared or resold.

Billing and cancellation

Premium is billed monthly in US dollars through Stripe and renews automatically until cancelled. You may cancel through the billing portal at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals and access continues through the paid billing period. Refund eligibility is explained in our billing and cancellation policy.

Availability and account action

We may change or interrupt the service to maintain security, reliability, or capacity. We may limit, suspend, or close access for unlawful use, material abuse, payment failure, or attempts to evade technical safeguards. When practical, we will explain the issue and provide a reasonable opportunity to correct it.

Liability

The service is provided as available without a promise that every transcript will be complete, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, FreeTranscribe is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of a transcript or interruption of the service. These terms do not remove rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
